Tree service is the application of specialized techniques such as felling, trimming, pruning, and trimming in developed environments such as roads, greenways, and public parks. The term tree pruning generally refers to the professional technique used by arborists to thin out, remove or otherwise reduce tree growth and limbs. Some tree surgeons and arborists may use hydraulic pruning equipment. However, other arborists may use more manually controlled equipment. The International Society of Arboriculture believes that arboriculture should be made accessible to people who do not have scientific backgrounds, as the practice of tree felling and trimming is not dependent on any scientific research.
An arborist is a person who is trained and licensed to identify trees, determine their health and assess their growth. Since arborists are often skilled communicators, they are frequently involved in communication with local community members, other arborists, government officials, other professionals and land managers about trees, environmental issues and tree maintenance and care. A tree specialist may also work as an environmental consultant or as an advocate for endangered species or other interests considered to be important to the arborist. Some arborists work in more specialized capacities such as tree planting or landscape architecture. Regardless of where a tree specialist works, he or she must demonstrate competence in dealing with all kinds of trees including conifers, spruces, elms, maple, birch, fruit trees, acacia, cypress, oak, citrus, evergreen trees, vine, and any other tree of exceptional importance or concern.
In some communities, homeowners may be approached by arborists to plant trees on their properties. In other communities, arborists may choose to voluntarily plant trees on properties without receiving any compensation. For example, arborists may plant trees on properties owned by long-term homeowners. In both cases, property owners must agree to plant the trees on their properties, pay for the services, preserve and protect the tree canopy, perform maintenance on the trees, and protect the arborists’ rights.
